Unicorp™ by Asher Noriega
This is my attempt at a weird, kind of surreal horror found website story.
-
CharNG: Used in the “Legal” Section. I took a bunch of examples of legal
disclaimers and mashed them together with weird phrases from the lore of
this story. I generated several batches of text and used the ones I liked
the most, editing them slightly.
-
n+7: Used in the “Notice: Wanted Individual” Section. I took the script I
wrote for that part and used n+1 I think. I liked the way that one turned
out the best.
-
Otter.ai: Used in the product description for the gloves. I just rambled
off as many weird terms as I could and then added on a written part at the
end.
-
Oblique Strategies: Don’t Break the Silence, Cascades, and Overtly resist
change. Don’t Break the Silence I interpreted as don’t overly explain
what’s happening in my story. I wanted there to be hints, but not outright
say what was happening. I think it made the story creepier. Cascades was
basically fill the screen with rambling information. I used that one
especially in the Legal section. I wanted it to seem like maybe the
website was broken or corrupted in some way. And Overtly resist change: I
used it in a sort of literal way of not changing the internet. I wanted my
website to look like an artifact from the early internet, something that
you might just randomly stumble upon while browning in the 90s/2000s.
-
botnik.org: Botnik gave me the horrible title “The pixel 10/10metaphysical
microsd slot gloves” from its technology word tree.
-
Anagram Generator: Used in the “Wanted Individual” Section to rearrange
“Basilisk Program” three times.
